Occupational Therapist

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join a specialist education setting supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference by helping pupils develop the skills they need to achieve greater independence, participation, and wellbeing.

Day-to-Day of the Role:

  • Assess pupils' functional, sensory, physical, and developmental needs.
  • Develop and implement individualised occupational therapy programmes and interventions.
  • Support pupils in developing independence, self-care, sensory regulation, motor skills, and access to learning.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents, and external professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on therapeutic strategies and classroom adaptations.
  • Monitor pupil progress and maintain accurate clinical records and reports.
  • Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and annual reviews where required.
  • Recommend and support the use of specialist equipment, resources, and environmental adaptations.
  • Promote a holistic and pupil-centred approach to therapy and wellbeing.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience working with children and young people, preferably within a SEND or educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of sensory processing, motor development, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience contributing to EHCPs and working collaboratively with families and professionals is desirable.
