Housing Procurement Officer

Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. We have embarked on our 10-year strategy for ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it.

We have three Housing Procurement Officer roles available in the following locations:

• Crisis Skylight London, 50-52 Commercial St, Tower Hamlets, E1 6LT
• Crisis Skylight Brent, 1-2, Bank Buildings, High St, NW10 4LT
• Crisis Skylight Croydon, 12 Surrey St, CR0 1RG

There will be travel in and around the local area.

About the role

As a Housing Procurement Officer, you will help people experiencing homelessness find safe, suitable and affordable homes across London's private and social rented sectors. We are recruiting one full-time officer for each of our London service centres, known as Skylights, in Brent, Croydon and Tower Hamlets. You will build relationships with landlords, source good-quality accommodation and work with each person we support, known at Crisis as a member, to understand their housing needs, preferences, affordability and circumstances. You will ensure housing options are clearly explained and that members have meaningful choice and control wherever possible.

You will work Collaboratively with members, Coaches, landlords and Housing Procurement Officers across the other London Skylights to make suitable housing matches, resolve concerns and address risks to tenancies early. You will take a bold approach to opening new routes into housing, pursue Impactful outcomes that last and work in an Equitable way that protects each person's dignity and independence. The role involves frequent travel across London. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required, with time off in lieu.

About you

• Strong knowledge of London's rental market, landlord and tenant law, and welfare benefits affecting housing access and affordability.
• Experience of sourcing and procuring properties, allocating and letting homes, and supporting people to sustain their tenancies.
• A clear understanding of the barriers faced by people moving out of homelessness, with experience of finding housing that reflects individual needs, preferences and circumstances.
• The ability to build productive relationships with social and private landlords and use negotiation, mediation and influencing skills when people have different priorities.
• A sound understanding of safeguarding, property health and safety and lone working, including how to recognise, respond to and escalate concerns while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Strong communication, organisation and self-management skills, including accurate record keeping, financial administration and the ability to work independently and across teams.
