Role: Junior Surveyor

Location: Chelmsford

Contract Type: Permanent- Mon- Fri 8am- 5pm (Travel to London on occasion)

  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites in London / Essex.

  • Ideally suited to a 3rd or 4th-year student or someone with 1-2 years QS experience.

  • Based within a commutable distance of the CM34 area.

The Junior Quantity Surveyor will support the senior commercial team in the delivery of interior fit-out projects, gaining structured experience across drylining, partitions, suspended ceilings, firestopping and specialist finishes. This role offers a clear development pathway for individuals seeking to build strong commercial foundations within a professional construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Site Measurement - Conduct site measurements and verify drawings, layouts and completed works.

  • Cost Management - Assist with cost tracking, variations, purchase orders and project expenditure.

  • Package Support - Support the management of specialist packages including drylining, partitions, ceilings, firestopping and doorsets.

  • Valuations - Assist with monthly valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.

  • Procurement - Review subcontractor quotations and support procurement activities.

  • Documentation - Maintain accurate commercial records including site diaries, delivery notes and project documentation.

  • Stakeholder Coordination - Liaise with project managers, site teams, subcontractors and suppliers.

  • Commercial Support - Provide day-to-day commercial and administrative assistance to Senior Surveyors.

Requirements

  • Degree, HNC or HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline (completed or in progress).

  • Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proactive attitude with a clear commitment to developing a QS career.
