Optical Laboratory & Glazing Technician

£30,000 Depending On Experience

Full-time Monday to Friday Flexible Hours

A fantastic opportunity is available for an Optical Laboratory & Glazing Technician to join a growing independent optical business.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys the technical side of optics and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work. You will become an integral part of the laboratory team, working across the full glazing and finishing process and helping to ensure optical orders are completed to a high standard.

What You'll Be Doing

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Glazing and fitting ophthalmic lenses into a variety of frames
• Preparing lenses for glazing and ensuring measurements are accurate
• Working with different lens materials, designs and frame types
• Operating optical laboratory machinery and equipment
• Inspecting finished jobs and carrying out quality checks
• Resolving glazing, fitting and measurement issues
• Completing repairs, adjustments and remedial work where necessary
• Managing workload to ensure orders are completed within required timescales
• Keeping the laboratory clean, organised and safe
• Working alongside the wider team to ensure a smooth production process

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is practical, technically minded and detail-focused.

You may already have experience working within an optical laboratory, or you could be a newly qualified Dispensing Optician looking to build on your practical glazing experience.

You'll ideally bring:

• Previous glazing or optical laboratory experience
• A good understanding of lenses, frames and glazing processes
• Confidence using laboratory machinery
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong practical and manual skills
• A logical and methodical approach
• Good problem-solving ability
• The ability to manage your own workload
• Reliability and a strong work ethic
• A positive attitude towards learning and development
• Experienced Optical Assistants with significant laboratory and glazing experience will also be considered.

Hours & Benefits

• Salary up to £30,000, depending on experience
• Performance-related annual bonus Monday to Friday - no weekend working
• Flexible start and finish times
• Choice of typical working patterns including 8am-4pm, 9am-5pm or 10am-6pm
