Tradewind Recruitment is recruiting SEMH Teaching Assistants for opportunities across specialist schools, alternative provisions and mainstream settings throughout Kingston and Surrey.

This is an opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children and young people who may experience social, emotional and mental health needs, challenging behaviour, anxiety, attachment difficulties or barriers to learning.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

Provide 1:1 and small-group support
Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour
Help pupils engage with their learning
Work closely with teachers and pastoral teams
Use positive behaviour strategies to support progress
Develop pupils' confidence, independence and social skills

We're looking for candidates who are:

Patient, calm and consistent
Resilient and confident supporting challenging behaviour
Passionate about helping young people overcome barriers
Able to build strong professional relationships
Experienced in education, youth work, care, support work or similar environments

Experience within SEMH, AP, PRU or challenging behaviour is highly desirable, but transferable experience will also be considered.

Role Details:

Hours: 8:30am-3:30pm/4:00pm
Location: Kingston & Surrey
Contract: Temporary, long-term opportunities
Start: September 2026
Pay: £95-£120 per day, depending on experience and qualifications
