Job Requirements/Description

CharityJob is supporting The Eikon Charity, a charity dedicated to improving the lives of children, young people and families, to recruit a Head of Services. You have been identified as someone who may be interested in this opportunity.

New Haw, Surrey (on-site) with occasional travel across Surrey and beyond.

The Eikon Charity works to improve the lives of children, young people and families, providing services that support their wellbeing and help them overcome challenges.

We are seeking an experienced and values-driven Head of Services to provide strategic and operational leadership across our services for children, young people and families.

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior leader with experience in youth services, education, social care or a similar setting to shape service delivery, develop teams and help drive positive outcomes for young people and families across Surrey.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will play a key role in shaping the charity's future direction, ensuring our services remain safe, effective and impactful while identifying opportunities for development, innovation and sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership across services for children, young people and families, ensuring delivery is safe, effective, accessible and aligned with organisational priorities.
  • Lead, motivate and develop service teams, providing clear direction, regular support and performance management to help colleagues deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Shape and implement future service strategy, identifying opportunities for service development, innovation and sustainable growth.
  • Provide senior safeguarding leadership, ensuring robust policies, procedures and practices are in place to protect young people and manage complex safeguarding concerns and organisational risks.
  • Oversee quality assurance, monitoring and evaluation, data, impact measurement and reporting, using insight to improve service delivery and demonstrate outcomes.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with senior external stakeholders and partners, including Mindworks and Surrey Wellbeing, to strengthen collaboration and influence decision-making.
  • Work collaboratively with the Income Generation Team to support the development of significant statutory and voluntary income bids.
  • Contribute to the charity's wider strategic direction, organisational performance, governance, risk management and continuous improvement as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

You will have:

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role, ideally within the charity sector, with a track record of leading and developing teams.
  • Extensive experience in youth services, education, social care or a related setting, particularly in leading services for children and young people.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of safeguarding and child protection policies, procedures and practice.
  • Experience of assessing complex risks, developing appropriate mitigation plans and managing sensitive or challenging situations.
  • Experience of developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation frameworks to measure the impact and effectiveness of services.
  • Strong strategic thinking, planning and decision-making skills, with the ability to deliver organisational priorities through others and within agreed budgets.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and represent the organisation externally.
  • The ability to use data and performance information to inform decisions, improve services and report effectively to senior leaders, trustees and funders.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement, effective people management and achieving positive outcomes for children, young people and families.

A relevant qualification in youth work or a related discipline would be desirable, as would experience of working with mental health services and interventions for children and young people.

As someone who is a potentially strong fit for this opportunity, upon clicking "Apply" your details will be forwarded to the recruiter, who may then contact you directly. Given the senior nature of this role, the recruiter may contact strong candidates who emerge on a rolling basis, so early submissions are encouraged.

NO COVER LETTER IS REQUIRED.
