Reed Education is recruiting for a passionate and creative Food Technology Teacher to join a specialist SEN setting in Croydon from September 2026.

This rewarding opportunity is within a highly supportive independent school that provides personalised education, mentoring, and therapeutic support for students from Key Stage 3 through to Post-16. The school supports young people with a range of additional needs and prides itself on delivering a bespoke curriculum that enables every student to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

This role would suit an enthusiastic Food Technology professional who enjoys building positive relationships and inspiring students through practical, engaging learning experiences. Applications are welcomed from qualified teachers, instructors, tutors, chefs, vocational educators, and experienced Food Technology practitioners. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is not essential.

The Role

As a Food Technology Teacher, you will:

• Deliver engaging and practical Food Technology lessons to students with Special Educational Needs.
• Plan and prepare lessons that are differentiated and tailored to individual learning needs.
• Teach cooking, nutrition, food safety, and independent living skills.
• Create a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment.
• Help students develop confidence, self-esteem, and essential life skills.
• Monitor and assess student progress.
• Work collaboratively with support staff and the wider school team.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety within the kitchen and learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Experience teaching or delivering Food Technology, Catering, Hospitality, or Cookery-based learning.
• Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN environment.
• A strong understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A patient, flexible, and nurturing approach.
• A genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
• The ability to motivate and engage learners with a range of needs and abilities.
