Job Title: Graduate / Assistant Town Planner
Location: Chelmsford

Are you a Graduate or Assistant Town Planner looking to take the next step in your career within a well-established and growing planning consultancy?

I'm currently working with a specialist property and planning consultancy in Colchester that is looking to strengthen its planning team with the appointment of a Graduate / Assistant Town Planner.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build their experience within private-sector planning, working alongside experienced Chartered Town Planners on a varied portfolio of projects.

The Role

As a Graduate / Assistant Town Planner, you will be involved across a range of planning projects, gaining exposure to both day-to-day development management and more strategic planning work.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications
  Undertaking planning appraisals and research
  Supporting senior planners with planning strategies and client advice
  Preparing planning statements, reports and representations
  Assisting with appeals, enforcement matters and planning enquiries
  Liaising with clients, local authorities and other consultants
  Supporting the promotion of development sites through the planning system
  Gaining exposure to residential, commercial, rural and mixed-use projects

The Candidate

I'm keen to speak with candidates who are either recently graduated or have some initial planning experience within consultancy or the public sector.

Ideally, you will have:

• A degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, Geography or a related discipline
  Some understanding of the UK planning system
  Strong written and verbal communication skills
  Good attention to detail and organisational skills
  A genuine interest in developing a career within planning consultancy
  The ability to work independently as well as as part of a wider team
  A full UK driving licence would be advantageous
