REED Education are proud to be working in partnership with an Ofsted-rated "Outstanding" secondary school in Welwyn Garden City to recruit an ambitious and inspirational Head of Maths for a full-time, permanent position starting in September 2026.

The Role

As Head of Maths, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Maths department, driving high standards of teaching, learning, and achievement across all key stages. You will lead curriculum development, support and develop staff, and play a key role in whole-school improvement.

The role includes:

• Leading and developing the Maths department
• Teaching Maths across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable)
• Monitoring progress, outcomes, and intervention strategies
• Supporting and mentoring both experienced teachers and ECTs
• Contributing to the wider leadership of the school

The Ideal Candidate

• QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) - essential
• Proven experience teaching Maths at secondary level
• Previous leadership experience or readiness to step into a HoD role
• A strong track record of raising attainment and leading improvement
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• A commitment to high standards and inclusive education
