SEMH Teaching Assistant - Primary School - Dunstable
Location: Dunstable, Bedfordshire
Working Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in the Dunstable area, supporting pupils with a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The school is looking for a committed individual who can provide a calm, consistent and supportive presence throughout the school day.

This position would suit someone who understands that working with pupils with SEMH needs requires patience, resilience, consistency and strong relationship-building skills.

Key Responsibilities
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

Support pupils with their academic and personal development.

Assist children with accessing the curriculum.

Provide classroom and individual support as required.

Encourage positive behaviour and appropriate boundaries.

Support pupils with emotional regulation.

Help children develop their independence and confidence.

Establish positive and professional relationships with pupils.

Provide reassurance and consistency during challenging situations.

Work effectively alongside teachers and other members of the school team.

Contribute towards a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Candidate Requirements
Experience within SEMH, SEN, education, care, youth work or a similar setting would be advantageous, although candidates without direct experience will also be considered.

Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm, full-time only.
