Location: Barnet, North London
Pay: £95-£115 per day PAYE, depending on experience
Contract: Full-time Long-term
Start Date: September 2026

Tradewind Recruitment are recruiting an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist primary school in Barnet from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for a caring, resilient and experienced teaching assistant who enjoys working with pupils with additional needs and wants to make a genuine difference to their progress.

The Role

You will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide tailored support to pupils across the primary age range. The school caters for children with a range of SEND, and the successful candidate will be confident adapting their approach to meet individual needs.

You will be supporting pupils with:

• Autism and communication needs
• Learning difficulties and additional learning needs
• Emotional and social development
• Behaviour and regulation
• 1:1 and small-group interventions
• Classroom routines and learning activities

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for someone with previous experience working in a school setting, ideally supporting pupils with SEND.

You will need to be patient, proactive and confident working as part of a wider education team. Experience with autism, sensory needs, visual timetables, PECS, Makaton or other communication strategies would be advantageous.

• Previous experience working in a UK school
• Experience supporting children with SEND
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills
• A patient and nurturing approach
• Commitment to safeguarding
• Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one
