Sales Engineer

Day-to-day duties of the role:
- Handle sales enquiries from emails and phone calls, generating detailed technical responses or formal quotations as required.
- Develop and manage business relationships with assigned distributors and customers.
- Identify specific business needs and provide product sales training for distributors.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key customers and distributors.
- Create and identify new sales opportunities and develop them into sales.
- Select and appoint new distributors for required markets.
- Meet sales targets set by the Sales Manager and identify opportunities for future growth.
- Collaborate with company resources to fulfil customer requirements.
- Monitor the progress of live enquiries and maintain contact with customers to progress enquiries to firm orders.
- Maintain the CRM system and frequently update records of enquiries and the sales pipeline.
- Provide the Sales Manager with reports on the status of all enquiries, including recommended actions for individual enquiries.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the industry and products.
- Attend shows, exhibitions, and customer sites as required by the strategic marketing plan.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum of BSc, BEng, or relevant field.
- Minimum 2+ years' sales experience
- Proven track record of selling complex solutions.
- Experience in selling scientific laboratory products.
- Experience in distributor management would be advantageous but not essential.
- Experience of using CRM systems.
- Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Well-organised, self-disciplined, and result-oriented.
- Willingness to travel (approximately 20%) to trade shows, conferences, and customer sites both in the UK and abroad.
- Ability to write sales reports and present in meetings.
- Ability to work to deadlines and complete tasks in a timely fashion, to meet customer requirements.
- Right to employment in the UK.
- Full UK driving licence.
