City, London Hybrid working
I'm working with a leading multi-disciplinary advisory, tax and audit firm that is looking to appoint a CASS Audit Manager into its specialist Financial Services audit and assurance team.
This is a strong opportunity for either an existing Audit Manager, or an experienced Assistant Manager ready to step up, who wants to build deeper expertise in a technical, fast-moving and highly valued regulatory area.
The team works with a varied portfolio of FCA-regulated clients, including investment firms, payment institutions, e-money institutions and insurance intermediaries. For candidates seeking broader exposure, the role can also include a mix of CASS, safeguarding and external audit assignments.
The Role
As CASS Audit Manager, you will take the lead on a portfolio of CASS audit clients, working closely with Partners, Directors and junior team members to deliver high-quality work on time and within budget.
You will manage engagements from planning through to completion, review key control areas and act as a trusted day-to-day contact for clients.
Responsibilities will include:
Managing a portfolio of CASS audit clients
Leading CASS audits from planning through to completion
Planning engagements, performing risk assessments and identifying key CASS controls
Reviewing client money, custody asset and safeguarding arrangements
Reviewing reconciliations, governance arrangements, control frameworks and breach management processes
Designing and reviewing audit testing across substantive, analytical and controls-based procedures
Identifying key issues that may affect audit or assurance opinions
Preparing and reviewing audit completion documentation, including CASS reports and summaries of findings
Reviewing work from junior team members and providing coaching and technical guidance
Communicating findings, recommendations and regulatory matters clearly to clients and senior stakeholders
Liaising with Compliance, Risk, Finance, Operations, IT audit and other specialist teams
Monitoring engagement progress, budgets, recoverability and deadlines
Supporting proposals, client discussions and the continued development of the CASS offering
What They're Looking For
The firm is keen to speak with audit professionals who have strong Financial Services experience and a good understanding of CASS, safeguarding and regulated client work.
You will ideally have:
ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualification
Current Audit Manager experience, or strong Assistant Manager experience with readiness to step up
Experience managing audit or assurance engagements
Strong Financial Services audit experience
Experience with FCA-regulated clients such as investment firms, payment institutions, e-money institutions or insurance intermediaries
Strong CASS audit experience, particularly CASS 6, 7 and 8
Good understanding of FCA CASS rules, safeguarding requirements and wider regulatory expectations
Strong technical audit and accounting knowledge, including UK GAAP and auditing standards
Experience reviewing reconciliations, control frameworks, governance arrangements and risk management processes
Confidence supervising, coaching and developing junior team members
Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical matters clearly
Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments
Why Apply?
This is a great opportunity to join an established Financial Services audit and assurance team with a strong specialist offering and a genuinely interesting regulated client base.
The role offers the chance to develop valuable CASS and safeguarding expertise, build strong client relationships, support team growth and progress within a collaborative, people-focused firm.
