Fire Risk Assessor

Goodman Masson are currently working with a London social housing organisation to recruit for an interim Fire Risk Assessor.

Pay - £300 - 350 per day INSIDE IR35

The Role

As an Interim Fire Risk Assessor, you will be responsible for undertaking Type 1, 3 and 4 Fire Risk Assessments, identifying fire safety risks and recommending appropriate remedial actions.

You will work closely with the wider fire safety team, internal stakeholders, contractors and residents to ensure fire safety risks are effectively identified, managed and resolved.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Undertaking comprehensive Fire Risk Assessments across residential and other managed properties.
• Identifying fire safety hazards and recommending appropriate remedial actions.
• Completing FRA reports to a high standard and within required timescales.
• Carrying out post-inspection reviews to ensure remedial works have been completed appropriately.
• Peer reviewing Fire Risk Assessments completed by colleagues and external consultants.
• Providing clear and practical fire safety advice to residents, housing teams, contractors and senior stakeholders.
• Supporting Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) processes where required.
• Investigating fire incidents and producing reports identifying root causes and recommendations.
• Identifying and proactively reporting fire safety hazards.
• Providing technical advice on fire safety legislation, procedures and best practice.
• Maintaining accurate records of assessments, remedial actions and outstanding risks.

About You

You will be an experienced Fire Risk Assessor with a strong background in residential housing, ideally within a local authority, housing association or similar environment.

You will have:

• At least 2-3 years' experience undertaking Fire Risk Assessments, preferably within social housing.
• A recognised fire safety qualification such as NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Fire Safety Act 2021 and associated legislation.
• Experience applying PAS 79 methodologies.
• Good understanding of passive fire protection and its application within residential buildings.
• Experience producing detailed FRA reports and maintaining accurate compliance records.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical fire safety matters to residents and non-technical stakeholders.
• The confidence to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider fire safety team.
• Professional membership of organisations such as IFE, IFSM or IOSH would be advantageous.
