Hours: Full time. You'll be required to work in line with our policies on hybrid working (minimum 60% in the office)

Your role with us

Our Finance Operations Department is at the heart of the FCDO, working to deliver public-facing services, projects, programmes and statutory commitments while protecting value for money, ensuring transparency and managing risks. We're currently looking to recruit eighteen enthusiastic Financial Operations Administrative Officers to work on transaction processing, projects, budgets, customer service functions and communications.

Join our friendly team in either East Kilbride or Milton Keynes and you'll have a wide range of day-to-day responsibilities, including:

  • Checking invoices to ensure their accuracy, processing, reconciling and investigating payments, issuing invoices, calculating and paying pension benefits and dealing with FCDO credit card issues
  • Resolving queries and providing professional guidance to our customers
  • Maintaining Excel spreadsheets, databases, records and desk notes
  • Creating and maintaining electronic filing systems and distribution lists
  • Dealing with telephone, email and postal enquiries
  • Organising and taking notes at meetings and events
  • Maintaining stationery supplies
  • Assisting with project management tasks, including monitoring progress, ensuring tasks are on schedule, anticipating and managing risks, and maintaining records
  • Monitoring budgets, raising purchase orders, using spreadsheets to manipulate data, helping with budget forecasting and working on commercial and procurement policies
  • Acting in various corporate roles such as first aider, for which training will be provided

Who we're looking for

To be successful in this busy role you'll be a collaborative team worker with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a strong commitment to delivering a service of the highest quality. Highly organised and with excellent literacy, numeracy and IT skills, you should be a confident user of IT packages including the Microsoft Office suite of software and have experience of mailbox management.

With well developed planning and analytical skills, and the ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment, you'll also be capable of making effective decisions, identifying problems and proposing solutions.

Please be aware that you must be a British Citizen at the time of application and be required to attain Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance.
