About the Role - Humanities Graduate TA - Funded Teacher Training

We are recruiting on behalf of an Ofsted Outstanding secondary school in Hounslow for a Humanities Graduate Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible. This is a genuine career development opportunity for a recent graduate with aspirations to become a teacher.

You will begin as a Teaching Assistant supporting the Humanities department, gaining hands-on classroom experience whilst working closely with experienced practitioners. Based on your performance and progression, you will then transition into a fully funded teacher training route starting in September 2027/28.

Initial Contract & Progression:

Support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and varying levels of ability in Humanities lessonsDeliver targeted interventions and small group teaching under the guidance of qualified teachersAssist classroom teachers with lesson delivery, ensuring all students make strong progressWork 1:1 with students who require additional support to access the curriculumSupport with marking, resource preparation, and classroom organisationBuild positive relationships with students, promoting engagement and confidence in HumanitiesContribute to the wider life of the school and the Humanities departmentParticipate in training and development opportunities to prepare for future teacher trainingPerson Specification

Essential:

1st or 2:1 degree in Humanities or a related subject (2:2 graduates with exceptional A-Levels may be considered)Strong A-Level results, particularly in HumanitiesGenuine aspiration to become a Humanities teacherConfident classroom presence and the ability to manage student behaviour effectivelyStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to build positive relationships with students and staffCommitment to supporting student progress and wellbeingResilience, enthusiasm, and a proactive approach to learningDesirable:

Previous experience working with young people (tutoring, mentoring, sports coaching, youth work, etc.)Understanding of the UK education system and national curriculumExperience supporting students with SEN or additional needsA-Level Humanities grade A or above
