Academic Quality and Governance Officer

Full time (35 hrs/wk), permanent

Split place of work between Horizons (Reading, Berkshire) and Home

Salary up to £30,000 pa plus benefits

We are looking for an Academic Quality and Governance Officer to join our team and play a key role in shaping and maintaining the University's academic standards and quality frameworks.

As a trusted point of contact across the University, you will provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues, building strong working relationships and helping to embed best practice.

You will play a vital role in administering programme approval, monitoring and reviewing activities, supporting accreditation visits and collaborative provision oversight, and managing essential external examiner processes. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the continuous improvement of our processes through the effective use of digital tools, promoting efficiency, and a positive user experience.

Your accountabilities and responsibilities include:

  • Administration of programme approval (validation and periodic review and re-validation), modification, monitoring and review processes
  • Provide guidance to academic and professional services staff on Quality Assurance procedures
  • Ensure committee documentation is accurate, timely and compliant with institutional regulations
  • Support the servicing of academic committees and working groups including acting as secretary for assigned committees

Our main requirements:

  • Experience in academic administration or quality assurance within higher education
  • Experience of committee servicing and policy development
  • Understanding of UK higher education regulatory frameworks and governance structures
