Catalyst Support is looking for a confident and values-led Safe Haven Team Lead to support the smooth running of our out-of-hours crisis prevention and support service across Aldershot, Guildford and Woking. This is an opportunity to play a key role in a partnership model that brings together community connections and statutory mental health providers to reduce emotional and psychological distress for people experiencing, or at risk of escalating to, a mental health crisis.

You will help lead and support Safe Haven staff, manage rotas and cover, contribute to safe and effective incident management, and work closely with colleagues and partner organisations to ensure the service is consistent, high quality and responsive. The role will suit someone with experience in mental health or social care settings who can remain calm under pressure, communicate confidently, support staff wellbeing and performance, and build positive relationships across services.

Location Hybrid, ability to travel to Safe Haven sites in Woking, Guildford and Aldershot. Minimum two days per week at Catalyst Support's office in Woking

Salary £30,000-£33,000 pro rata plus on-call allowance

Work pattern 28 hours per week, including evening and weekend hours

Contract type Fixed term until 31 March 2027, with the possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage rotas, ensuring there is adequate cover for holiday and sickness
• Solve issues of staff cover with partner organisations as they arise
• Undertake monthly team meetings with all Safe Haven staff
• Deliver one to one supervision for staff, ensuring all performance issues, complaints and support needs are addressed
• Support with annual appraisals for Safe Haven staff
• Ensure all Catalyst staff are following the incident management process and utilising the on-call rota
• Participate in the on-call rota, ensuring you are able to respond to urgent calls, follow-up and report incidents during Safe Haven opening times
• Attend any necessary meetings to meet the needs of Safe Haven
• Liaise with the Senior Manager and Director of Services in preparation for the Service Review and Steering Group Meetings in relation to service delivery
• Work with the Senior Manager around operational efficiencies and ensure the service follows best practice
• Work with the Senior Manager around any complaints, grievances and serious performance issues
• Work as part of a team of Team Leads and communicate well with colleagues working from different locations
• Develop relationships with service users, carers and statutory and non-statutory organisations, in order to provide more integrated preventative and crisis management provision
• Ensure high quality services are delivered consistently and adhere to best practice guidelines, including safeguarding and safe practice.
• Take responsibility for personal development, identifying personal training needs and participate in regular supervision and appraisal
• Work within the Catalyst governance framework
• Work 1 shift a month at a Safe Haven site (minimum 10 a year), to be paid additionally to Team Lead hours at Support Worker rate

About you

• We're looking for someone who can bring compassion, confidence and strong leadership to a busy out-of-hours mental health support service. You will be someone who:
• Has experience working in social care, mental health, crisis support or a similar community-based service.
• Has experience supervising, supporting or mentoring staff and/or volunteers.
• Can build positive working relationships with statutory, voluntary and community partners.
• Understands safeguarding, confidentiality, consent, information sharing and GDPR
• Can support staff wellbeing and address performance or support needs appropriately
• Communicates clearly and confidently, both verbally and in writing.
• Is organised, with good administrative, recording and reporting skills
• Can remain calm under pressure and respond confidently to urgent or sensitive situations
• Is able to work on your own initiative while also contributing positively as part of a wider team
• Is committed to delivering high-quality, safe and inclusive services
• Understands and values equality, diversity and equal opportunities
• Is confident using IT systems and databases
• Is able to work flexibly across locations, including evenings, weekends and on-call responsibilities
