We are looking for an experienced and proactive Freelance Site Manager to oversee a programme of loft and cavity wall insulation works in Sudbury.
This is a 6-month contract starting on 14th September 2026 and will involve managing day-to-day site operations, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards while maintaining an excellent experience for residents and customers.
The successful candidate will be highly organised, confident managing operatives and subcontractors, and comfortable working with IT-based systems for reporting, compliance and job management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day delivery of loft and cavity wall insulation works.
- Coordinate and supervise installation teams, subcontractors and site activities.
- Ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with programme requirements.
- Maintain excellent Health & Safety standards across all works.
- Carry out site inspections, toolbox talks, inductions and safety briefings.
- Ensure RAMS and other site documentation are understood and adhered to.
- Identify, report and manage site risks, defects and Health & Safety concerns.
- Monitor workmanship and ensure installations meet required quality and compliance standards.
- Maintain accurate site records and update internal IT/job management systems.
- Monitor progress against programme targets and provide regular reports and updates.
- Liaise professionally with residents, customers, installers, subcontractors and the wider project team.
- Manage customer queries and concerns professionally and ensure issues are resolved promptly.
- Ensure properties and residents are treated with care and respect throughout the works.
- Support the successful handover and completion of works, ensuring all required documentation is captured.
Essential Requirements
Candidates must have:
- SMSTS
- Valid CSCS Card
- First Aid qualification
- Asbestos Awareness
- Previous Site Management or supervisory experience, ideally within insulation, retrofit, energy efficiency, social housing or residential works.
- Strong knowledge and practical application of Health & Safety requirements.
- Excellent IT and systems skills, with the ability to confidently use digital job management, reporting and compliance systems.
- Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Strong communication and people-management abilities.
- A professional and customer-focused approach.
- Ability to manage multiple teams and properties while maintaining quality and programme targets.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make effective decisions on site.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who combines strong site management with excellent customer service. As works will be undertaken in and around occupied residential properties, the Site Manager must be comfortable communicating with residents and ensuring disruption is kept to a minimum.
You will be expected to set high standards for Health & Safety, quality, compliance, productivity and customer care and ensure installation teams consistently work to those standards.
