An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Building Surveyor to join a leading housing provider, delivering major remediation, latent defect, cladding and fire safety projects across a residential portfolio. This is a high-profile role focused on project delivery, stakeholder engagement, contract management and ensuring compliance with building safety regulations, whilst delivering excellent outcomes for residents and customers
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage major works, remediation, latent defect, cladding, and fire safety projects from inception through to completion.
- Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery against programme, budget, quality, and compliance requirements.
- Procure, administer, and manage consultant and contractor appointments, ensuring value for money and contractual compliance.
- Act as the key point of contact for residents, leaseholders and stakeholders, providing project updates and managing complaints effectively.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams and ensure effective collaboration throughout project delivery.
- Monitor compliance with building regulations, fire safety legislation, CDM requirements and wider statutory obligations.
- Manage project risks, programme delivery, quality assurance, and cost control activities.
- Review and manage technical solutions relating to cladding remediation, fire safety, and latent defects.
- Prepare reports, project updates, and committee papers for senior stakeholders.
- Support contractor performance management, project handovers, and compliance documentation.
- Attend occasional evening resident meetings and stakeholder engagement events where required.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
To be considered for this opportunity, you will ideally have:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying, Construction Management, Building Engineering or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience delivering major works, refurbishment, remediation, or building safety projects within residential or social housing environments.
- Strong building surveying and contract administration experience across complex construction projects.
- Experience managing consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Excellent knowledge of CDM Regulations, building safety requirements and construction compliance frameworks.
- Experience engaging with residents, leaseholders, and other stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.
- Strong understanding of cladding systems, fire safety standards, and residential building regulations.
- Experience administering JCT contracts and managing procurement processes.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage budgets, programmes, risks, and quality standards.
- Chartered status with RICS, CIOB or equivalent, or working towards chartership, would be advantageous.
- Experience managing cladding remediation and major refurbishment projects would be highly desirable.
- Strong communication, customer service and stakeholder management skills with the ability to explain technical matters to non-technical audiences.
