The Bar Council represents over 18,000 barristers in England and Wales. It promotes the Bar's high quality specialist advocacy and advisory services; fair access to justice for all; the highest standards of ethics, equality and diversity across the profession; and the development of business opportunities for barristers at home and abroad.
The Bar Council is the governing body and the Approved Regulator for the Bar of England and Wales. It discharges its regulatory functions through the independent Bar Standards Board.
The Bar Council is seeking a Senior Policy Officer to join the newly established Office of the Commissioner for Conduct. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a new function at the heart of the profession's work to uphold standards of conduct and promote a safe, respectful and inclusive culture across the Bar.
The successful candidate will play a central role in the triage and assessment of reports relating to sexual harassment, bullying and other inappropriate behaviour. Working as part of a small and dedicated team, the Senior Policy Officer will help ensure concerns are handled sensitively, fairly, confidentially and efficiently, while contributing to the development of policies, processes and best practice within this important new area of work.
